So my dude Nick aka Nicky Barnes landed in my city on Friday and we went straight to work.

We had a series of back to back meetings with our stockist, clients, potential clients, ambassadors and our one-on-one marathon team talks. The discussion was about the brand, where it sits and where we want it to sit. We discussed strategy and game plan… communication is key in the Head Honcho game plan and we made sure that we chatted about everything Honcho related.

It’s safe to say that we are more driven and focused and the game better get ready for us this Summer… we winning.

The weekend was beautiful. Friday belonged to AKA. After giving the streets three hot bangers over the last few weeks, the Honcho fam dropped his video for “I want it all” featuring Khuli Chana and Pro. The good people of Vuzu and Channel O put it on blast and the streets went nuts. To top it off the fellaz performed the joint on LIVE and Honcho was repped to the fullest.

Nick and I then headed to Naves’ birthday party at The Bank and it was wall to wall insanity. All love to the birthday boy who was decked out in that extra crispy Honcho gear, the rest of the fam were out there too. It was hectic… well done my dude.

Saturday morning belonged to exercise on the soccer pitch. Healthy bodies equal healthy minds right? We had a bit of fun and got in a dope workout before getting back to work. Once again we spoke to the players in our field and ensured that Honcho will be around for generations to rock… we are inspired!

The evening belonged to the Vuzu birthday party at Turbine Hall. I enjoyed the opportunity to network and it’s humbling to witness the love that our brand receives.

AKA took to the stage and the crowd stood no chance. His energy on stage had them dancing their lil hearts out and when joined by Pro and Khuli, it dawned upon me that “I want it all” is about to be the biggest hip-hop track in our land… yeah I said it… it was a magical moment!

Nick headed back to the Cape and I handled the Garden of Eden… best way to end a weekend (or start a week).

So the World Cup came and went… personally I’m happy it’s gone. Don’t get me wrong, I had mad fun, met some great people and the work kept me busy. Above all I’m extremely impressed with how we held it down as a Nation. We shocked the world.

I’m glad it’s out the way because it’s time to get back to work. The World Cup had too many of us drunk and high off football… we forgot that 2010 is a year and not a month. I’m over the emotional roller-coaster and the heartbreak of watching Bafana and the Black Stars bow out. I’m also over cats not making meetings or rushing meetings because they have to watch Iniesta. Time to focus… we’re in the second half of the year and those goals from the beginning of the year can still be achieved.

I experienced a bit of fashion week (AFI) with my lady. It seem s as though fashions shows are becoming more regular and this keeps us at Head Honcho even more inspired. Trust me when I say that it won’t be long before you see us on those ramps. I was quite impressed that the shows began on time for a change… some of the concepts were really dope. The gear was also impressive… competition is tight.

I’m hoping you’ve checked out the interview with Dj Franky. He’s a dude I spend a lot of time with and besides being a formidable dj… his events are fresh (not just the Garden of Eden). He has a project [album] coming out soon and I can’t wait for it.

Speaking of the Garden… I’m bold enough to say that it’s now the largest Sunday event in Johannesburg and we can’t wait to bring around the country and wherever we roll… Honcho is on our backs. It’s amazing how many people come up to me and show me their Honcho gear… they are proud of it and proud of the association with the Head Honcho Society and that is truly humbling. That’s the ultimate validation and we appreciate it.

Supposedly we’re about to experience some post World Cup depression… I find that hilarious. Anyway we’ll lift your spirits with more hot gear, more hot events and great music from our ambassadors.

Vuzu TV is celebrating its 1st year anniversary soon and the Honcho fam will be there strong. Our ambassadors AKA, Franky and Lulo Cafe will be on the line-up… I will keep you posted on all of that.

By the way, I predicted that Spain would win the World Cup, so please believe when I say that Head Honcho is holding the belt and not letting go.

So no more introductions, let’s get into it.

The World Cup is almost over and it’s been one hell of an experience. Firstly watching our country come together and hosting has been a pleasure. The different people and cultures that I have come across have been amazing. The World Cup has made me really appreciate my country simply because all the tourists that I have met, are in love with this land.

All of them ask about my Head Honcho gear, where they can get it… they are in love just like me. The World Cup has been emotionally draining; watching our beloved Bafana go out was heart-breaking but all love for the heart and courage shown.

The World Cup has also messed with my sleeping patterns. As is, I barely sleep but these tourists are crazy! They step inside the club at 4am and at 7am when we kick them out… they think we are crazy or say party-pooper in Mexican. They are having a blast. Every night has been insane.

Sunday I met Kobe Bryant and some of the USA soccer players. No I did not get starstruck or have a groupie moment. I told Kobe that I thought he was taller and that I think I could take him in a three-point shoot-out… he laughed but I wasn’t playing. Good dude though, always humbling to come across living legends who are still humble. I’m still not a Laker fan though.

Away from the clubs, our Head Honcho ambassador AKA has been dropping heat in the studio… I hope other rappers are in studio because the Summer belongs to him. I’m making an early prediction on next year’s hip hop SAMA award… yeah I said it! Checkout the links on the site… the new joint “I’m ill” is on some other ish.

So I’m keeping it brief, got Honcho work to put in. Remember that our gear is inspired by you, you are our muse, so the fresher you keep it, the fresher it’s gonna get.
