What’s good fellas? .. Its been a minute since y’all were up on here..
Flexx: True, good to be back on the freshest site in Africa. Still progressive.
Jinxx: Our works have been speaking a lot for us; we found ourselves way ahead to catch-up with… I’m just sayin!
Y’all have kept busy … what are some of the exciting projects/shows that you’ve been busy with?
Flexx: Damn. A lot has happened since the last time, let me see…some notable shows have been Back To The City Festival which is important on the SA Hip Hop Calendar, We also rocked with People Under The Stairs…shout out to KOL, there was the Hype Awards…we enjoyed that. Cape Town’s Most Wanted (Kool Out Live), Ill Skillz Exclusives series, the Cape Town Festival and Hip Hop Connected at The Artscape Theatre.
We just recently did our NO-PROMO TOUR which included rocking at The National Arts Fest in Grahamstown and the Siz N Scoop X Nike Sportswear party at Gallery on 4th in Joburg. The highlight though, must be doing the 24 Hour Project – Skillz That pay Da Billz in March.
Jinxx: True, true, true…
Tell us more about the “24 hr Project” ….
Jinxx: People thought we were aiming to just capture buzz over this initiative, but were lacking a better understanding of us as creatively-inclined type of artists who enjoy such innovative challenges. Our missions was to record about 9-10 tracks, mixed and mastered,… also including doing a video shoot for one of the songs, a photo shoot, artwork creation and as well as launching it in 24 Hours via the internet. Everything was captured in film and we aimed to create a DVD documentary overall.
We were fortunate to have Red Bull Music Academy on board offering us their recording space and other facilities, and Vuzu.tv as our media partner. Big shout out to HIT Entertainment too!

Bathing Ape has done it again … the eponymous Japanese label has ‘borrowed’ another silhouette made famous by a popular shoe brand in the States. These ‘Yankstas’, as they are so humorously called have been met with a lot of criticism after dropping at a BAPE store in Japan. What do you guys think of these…. would you buy them???

HONCHO OF THE WEEK: BIG SEAN

This is probably one of the most exciting and innovative periods that we’ve seen in hip hop for a while. Just a year or two ago, hip hop luminaries such as Nas had already claimed the demise of this loved genre. But thanks to some innovative and boundary-pushing artists such as Lil Wayne, Kanye West and Drake, its safe to say that hip hop is baaaaack!
One of the dudes that’s got us really excited is Big Sean, a guy whose lyrical prowess could not be ignored anymore and ended being snapped up by the visionary Kanye West. We like dude because 1) His wordplay is sick e.g. “Ain’t it ironic that I’m in a big body/cos every rapper named BIG got bodied” 2) His flow is chilled and oozes confidence 3) His style sense meets the Head Honcho standards 4) His mentor Kanye West intends to make him one of the biggest rap stars in the world.

So no more introductions, let’s get into it.
The World Cup is almost over and it’s been one hell of an experience. Firstly watching our country come together and hosting has been a pleasure. The different people and cultures that I have come across have been amazing. The World Cup has made me really appreciate my country simply because all the tourists that I have met, are in love with this land.
All of them ask about my Head Honcho gear, where they can get it… they are in love just like me. The World Cup has been emotionally draining; watching our beloved Bafana go out was heart-breaking but all love for the heart and courage shown.
The World Cup has also messed with my sleeping patterns. As is, I barely sleep but these tourists are crazy! They step inside the club at 4am and at 7am when we kick them out… they think we are crazy or say party-pooper in Mexican. They are having a blast. Every night has been insane.
Sunday I met Kobe Bryant and some of the USA soccer players. No I did not get starstruck or have a groupie moment. I told Kobe that I thought he was taller and that I think I could take him in a three-point shoot-out… he laughed but I wasn’t playing. Good dude though, always humbling to come across living legends who are still humble. I’m still not a Laker fan though.
Away from the clubs, our Head Honcho ambassador AKA has been dropping heat in the studio… I hope other rappers are in studio because the Summer belongs to him. I’m making an early prediction on next year’s hip hop SAMA award… yeah I said it! Checkout the links on the site… the new joint “I’m ill” is on some other ish.
So I’m keeping it brief, got Honcho work to put in. Remember that our gear is inspired by you, you are our muse, so the fresher you keep it, the fresher it’s gonna get.
