The new Nike Air Jordan Spizike ‘INFARED’ have just dropped at SHELFLIFE. For those of you who were lucky enough to scoop a pair of the ‘Winterized’ Spizkes, which came in a very limited drop, you will be happy to know we have these in a full size curve!

In celebration of their historic relationship, Jordan Brand and Spike Lee have come together to design the Jordan Brand Spiz’ike, a combination of the Jordan III, IV, V, VI, and XX. A relationship that began in the late 80’s through Nike’s agency Widen + Kennedy, Spike’s character, Mars Blackmon, and Michael Jordan became the defacto faces of the then emerging Jordan legacy. A key ingredient in helping to mold the image of the then young Jordan line, Spike Lee contributed to each sneaker represented through the Spiz’ike including his most recent return to the brand last year with the Air Jordan XX.

The Village Voice has done an interesting article on one of the biggest sneaker collectors in the US. New York native Mark Farese, has a collection of more than 1,400 pairs of sneakers. He bought his first pair for $150 and hasn’t stopped since. He now values his vast collection at over $300,000 (+/- R2,6 million).

In his New Jersey basement, plastic shoeboxes line the flow in rows and stack up in six foot-high walls. The boxes custom-made for him in Japan, bear his nickname “The Mayor”. Read more on the Mayor of Sneakerdom at Village Voice.

After a successful three years at the Zone in Rosebank, Shesha, a mecca for style conscious youth, opened its doors in Melrose Arch, Johannesburg. Shesha is a destination for the latest in street style within Johannesburg.

Apart from the unique ability to stock premium and exclusive Nike product (we’re talking ranges usually reserved for New York and London), Shesha has also broken the mould by combining cult international brands such as Guess and Swear with emerging local labels such as Head Honcho.

The Melrose Arch store marks an evolution of the concept. Now is the time for Shesha to expand and Melrose Arch is the perfect location. The vision for this store is to deliver a fresh perspective for fashion in the new development.

Last week, we were excited to learn that the Nike SB’s had finally dropped in South Africa and they are only available at Baseline Studios in Cape town, Munks in Melville, Revolution in Cresta, Pavilion and Gateway. For those who do not know, the SB’s are Nike’s skate boarding range of sneakers and clothing. Nike launched their first SB line March 2002.

Excitement for the line only really picked up when they signed Paul Rodriguez to a shoe deal. These days the Nike SB skate team includes a bigger Pro skating team, an AMS team as well as better looking designs. I do not skate much but I am looking forward to getting into one these babies.

The Nike and Kanye West collaboration tentatively titled the “Air Yeezy” has been causing quite a stir in all the stores across the world lucky enough to have some pairs in stock. The latest style to be released is the black and pink combo. Check out the pics below and salivate.

The ever-busy Kanye West covers the latest issue of American men’s fashion magazine Complex. The MC who recently changed his monker from the “Louis Vuitton Don” to “Martin Louis King”, talks about, amongst other, his two highly-anticpated sneaker collaborations with Louis Vuitton and Nike. Below is a little extract from the article:

“Kanye says that it usually comes effortlessly, but tonight he’s just not feeling it. And he’s sorry, too; he knows you must be bored. It’s 10 p.m., the night before the Grammys, and he’s trying to find the perfect ’fit for the evening. This process began two hours ago with a mauve Balenciaga tuxedo shirt he had purchased that afternoon at Barney’s (where you and he ran into Puff, of all people…but that’s a story for another day). He quickly assembled a dressy outfit around the piece and then proceeded, one by one, to replace each item in the look, until, 120 minutes later (take a second to consider all the mathematical permutations of a six- or seven-piece ensemble chosen from the 13 racks of clothes in the bedroom-sized “closet” of his Hollywood Hills home), he has arrived at a simple but sharp jeans-and-leather jacket look, which he says he likes because it looks like he just threw it on. Attributing these two tedious hours to narcissism should be easy—he’s known for it, right? But you can’t. It’s just not that simple. Kanye West is performance art. He’s an idea. A brand. A mission.
